EIS reference data
Informative research behind the Eurorack Interface Specification (EIS): the module, case, supply, and bus board survey that Annex F summarises, and the catalogue rail sections that Annexes A to D compare. No requirement in EIS reads this repository. It is kept apart so that the specification stays small and its checks run with nothing else checked out.
| Folder | What |
|---|---|
survey/ |
Module depths, current draws, cases, supplies, and bus boards, each figure with its source; survey.py hands a copy to a specification checkout, which generates Annex F and the depth card from it |
vendors/ |
Rail and insert sections from Schroff, Gie-Tec, HEITEC, Verotec, Vector, and TipTop, drawn to one frame, with the scripts that check them against the specification's limits |
sources.json |
Every third-party document consulted: URL, retrieval date, and SHA-256; none is stored here |

Working with a specification checkout
The scripts hand data to, and compare against, a checkout of the specification. Point them at it with --spec PATH, with EIS_SPEC, or by cloning the two repositories side by side as eurorack-specification and eis-reference.
python survey/survey.py --spec ../eurorack-specification --check # the specification's copy of the survey is this one, and its Annex F is current
python survey/survey.py --spec ../eurorack-specification # copy the survey there and regenerate Annex F and the depth card
python vendors/schroff/schroff_rail.py --spec ../eurorack-specification
python -m pytest tests checks the data files and, when a specification checkout is found, that its copy of the survey is current. The specification keeps that copy in its data/survey/, with the commit it was copied at, so that its own checks and builds run with nothing else checked out; tools/survey.py --pull there does the same copy from this side.
Licensing
The figures are facts compiled by LZX Industries from the cited sources; the compilation, the prose, and the drawings are CC BY 4.0. The scripts are MIT. Maker and product names belong to their owners, and the catalogues the vendor pages describe belong to their publishers. See COPYRIGHT.md.
