    Videomancer 1.0.0-rc.39

    Dual-mode RGB 1V loopback accuracy — EXT sync delay, encoder CSC, and clean 1V DAC sync.

    Changes

    • Dual EXT sync delay — HDMI RX HS/VS into ADV7181C EXT sync is delayed ~50 LLC clocks (dual_sync_delay, BRAM circular buffer so Lumarian still fits) so clamp recovery overshoot no longer lands in the first active bars on RGB 1V / DC+EXT paths.
    • RGB 1V DAC syncr_g_b_s keeps sync_on_rgb off so sync tips on the 1V rails cannot crush decoder auto-clamp (dual loopback HIL).
    • Encoder chroma scale — ADV7393 HD CSC chroma coeffs ×0.92 (GY unchanged) to cut G-leak into R/B primaries on the RGB 1V path while greys stay put.
    • Dual analog loopback CSC — R/B mapping and mode switching for YPbPr AC ↔ RGB 1V dual legs; FPGA reload on dual analog_in changes.
    • Re-signed embeds — all release-stage embedded .vmprog packs rebuilt from current RTL (incl. EXT sync delay) and Ed25519-signed.

    Requires

    • Rebuild and resign all embedded vmprogs (core_top + dual_sync_delay in all four cores).
    • Flash 1.0.0-rc.39 UF2 (MCU + packs); Connect with Show pre-release firmware.

    Beta testing focus

    Goals: lifecycle/beta/goals/1.0.0-rc.39.yaml.

    1. Dual RGB 1V bars — Dual routing, Analog Out/In = RGB 1V; passthru color bars at 720p60 and 1080p30; levels and primaries look right (no crushed black / blown white / strong G→B leak).
    2. Dual YPbPr AC control — same Dual path on YPbPr AC; confirm no regression vs rc.38.
    3. HDMI / standalone smoke — quick passthru check that HDMI and standalone still lock and display.
    4. YPbPr DVD (rc.38) — if time, spot-check NTSC classify and Y replug from rc.38 goals.

    Videomancer 1.0.0-rc.35

    Fix Sync Out eq/VBI phase advance — uniform horizontal sync compensation under G_PHASE_ADVANCE.

    Changes

    • video_sync_generator phase advance (Fix B) — when G_PHASE_ADVANCE is enabled (Sync Out path via SPI register 0x09), all horizontal sync edge compares use v_eff_clks (counter + phase advance modulo line length) uniformly: s_hsync, s_hsync_2x, s_csync, s_csync_2x, s_csync_serration, s_eq_pulses, and vsync clk events. Previously only primary s_hsync/s_csync were fully advanced; eq/VBI tri-level mux paths could disagree with active-line H under external sync extraction.
    • VUnit coverage — 15 format configs plus _phase variants and 1080i5994_phase22; tests for hsync edge lead, line period preservation, and interlaced eq trisync under phase advance (767 tests).
    • Embedded bitstreams — all release-stage embedded programs rebuilt so production firmware ships the updated sync generator RTL.

    Requires

    • rc.34+ for truthful processing_delay_clks metadata and signed embedded vmprogs (Fix A). rc.35 does not replace accurate program delay values — it fixes incomplete eq/VBI phase advance in the sync generator itself.

    Beta testing focus — 1080i Sync Out strobing

    Use a scope or genlock-capable monitor with external ramp sync. Goals: lifecycle/beta/goals/1.0.0-rc.35.yaml.

    1. 1080i5994 — load a processing program (e.g. yuv_amplifier, pinwheel); compare Sync Out to processed Y. rc.33+ reported ~5 s strobing envelope on external ramps while component Y stayed clean; rc.35 should eliminate or greatly reduce eq/VBI beat misalignment.
    2. Regression — confirm rc.34 chroma-phase fixes still hold on odd-delay programs; passthru and Dual Mode HDMI timing unchanged.

    Unified sync phase compensation — external Sync Out pre-compensates for each program's pipeline delay across Analog, HDMI, Dual, and Standalone routing.

    Changes

    • vmprog 1.1 — per-program processing_delay_clks metadata; all 25 embedded programs repacked.
    • SPI register 0x09sync_phase_advance_clks written at program load (core post-delay + program pipeline).
    • Unified sync path — sync generator locks to program input on vid_clk in all routing modes (replaces per-mode HDMI RX / free-run / program-output paths).
    • Pinwheel area fix — saturation path uses lightweight interpolators so the program fits hx4k after core sync changes.

    Beta testing focus — sync phase timing

    Use a scope or genlock-capable monitor. Goals: lifecycle/beta/goals/1.0.0-rc.33.yaml.

    1. For each routing mode you use (Analog In, HDMI In, Dual In, Standalone):
      • Load a processing program (not passthru or synthesis).
      • Compare Sync Out horizontal edges to the processed output for that mode (analog enc, HDMI TX, or both in Dual).
      • Sync Out should lead processed video by a stable offset equal to the program pipeline delay — no drift or beat over 10+ minutes.
    2. Switch to passthru — offset should change (typically +1 clk vs synthesis programs at 0).
    3. Dual In: confirm ADV7393 HDMI passthrough timing is unchanged; only Sync Out uses program-input phase advance.
